Hi friend, I’m Jeannette. I love Jesus, and I believe in the power and beauty of the local church when her people are living the gospel in their everyday lives. I'm passionate about living wide awake to God and pursuing the life and calling He's created me for, and I want to help others to do the same.
I serve as Executive Pastor at Seneca Creek Community Church, where I’m privileged to shepherd a beautifully diverse community. Still, in my earlier years, I struggled to embrace and confidently live my calling. Not because I was confused or unsure about it, but because I was alone. I didn’t know any women pastors. In the churches where I grew up, women didn’t preach or lead, so I’d never seen it done before. I had no idea what it looked like to be female and pastor, but I was sure that God had created me both.
Today, I want to help other women leaders avoid the loneliness and uncertainty that I endured by empowering them to find their voice, speak up, and lead wherever God is calling them. I also want to promote conversation about how churches can build thriving co-gender, leadership teams, so that our faith communities reflect the full image of God, who is both male and female.
I serve as president of the Greater D.C. Chapter of Christians for Biblical Equality, an organization that exists to promote Biblical justice and community by educating Christians that the Bible calls men and women to share authority equally in service and leadership in the home, church, and world. I’m a graduate of Regent University, where I studied Organizational Leadership (B.S. and M.A.) and Practical Theology (M.A.). I completed my professional coach training at Lifeforming Leadership Institute, and I’m a certified DISC consultant.
My home is in the suburbs of Washington, D.C. with my husband, Eddie. We are blessed with three fantastic adult children, two terrific daughter-in-loves, and two magnificent granddaughters. I am a one-year breast cancer survivor, giving glory to God and offering my life in service to others every day. In my free time, I enjoy reading about leadership and spirituality, a brisk walk or slow run in the morning sunshine, beach trips with my family, Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Lattes, and Virginia Tech Football.
... In one God, creator and sustainer of the universe, eternally existing in Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, equal in power and glory.
... The Bible is the inspired word of God, is reliable, and is the final authority for faith and practice.
... Men and women are equally created in God’s image and given equal authority and stewardship of God’s creation.
... Men and women are equally responsible for and distorted by sin, resulting in shattered relationships with God, self, and others.
... Eternal salvation and restored relationships are only possible through faith in Jesus Christ who died for us, rose from the dead, and is coming again. This salvation is offered to all people.
... The Holy Spirit leads us into truth, convicts, counsels, comforts, guides, and empowers us with gifts for service. Those gifts are not limited by race, class, or gender.
... The Church is the community through which God wants to bring love, justice, and healing to the human race and He invites everyone who is willing to follow Jesus to join in this mission.
... One day Christ will return, love and justice will prevail, and God will set the world right.
